The Twitter account of Bollywood's biggest superstar Amitabh Bachchan was hacked.
According to Bollywood superstar, the hackers have planted some sex sites in his 'follower's' list. This implies that someone may have accessed the film actor's account and followed Twitter handles of sex sites.
An avid Twitter user, veteran actor has over 16 million followers on the microblogging website. Bachchan uses Twitter to interact with his fans and update them about his projects and personal life. He also numbers his original tweets.
A tweet from Amitabh Bachchan's official Twitter account (@SrBachchan) says, "WHOA !..My Twitter handle hacked ! Sex sites planted as 'following' ! Whoever did this, try someone else, buddy, I don't need this !"
After the incident, company which deals in security solutions for businesses and consumers have asked the users to be more cautious while accessing social media sites.
Zakir Hussain Rangwala Country Head ESET India said,“Celebrity accounts are always under constant threat from cyber criminals across the world, though it’s not talked about often, but online privacy and good internet security should be a pre-requisite for any individual or a brand accessing the internet.”
“There are several paid/freeware apps for protections against malicious content, dangerous links etc, but you only get protection for what you pay for, moreover no one is 100% protected on the internet. Any account is never hacked by its social media usage but by the user behavior knowingly or unknowingly falling into traps setup by the cyber criminals”, Hussain added
